MATERIALS
Main Materials used in BEAUDREY Machines (water intake screens or condenser cleaning systems)

CARBON STEEL
-
Always used painted or lined. Ideal for structural purposes such as stoplogs, filter shells, bar racks, rotation screen structures etc.
-
Cathodic protection is recommended in salt water.
-
High-tensile varieties are used for mechanical components.
AUSTENITIC STAINLESS STEELS
-
Good corrosion-resistance in fresh water (AISI 304L) or salt-water (AISI 316L). Very vulnerable to stagnant water and hydrogen sulfide (H2S).
-
Used for the same parts as carbon steel.
-
Unsuited for mechanical applications.
-
Easy to protect with cathodic protection.

DUPLEX STAINLESS STEEL
-
Excellent corrosion resistance.
-
Very high tensile properties, can be used for all filter and screen components.
-
However, acceptable voltage range in the case of impressed current cathodic protection is very narrow, especially in combination with carbon steel.
SUPER-DUPLEX STAINLESS STEEL
-
Near-perfection corrosion resistance in seawater.
-
Very high tensile properties.
-
Very sensitive to impressed cathodic protection settings.

GLASS-REINFORCED POLYESTER (GRP)
-
Used for pipework, covers and guards.
-
Totally corrosion-free.
-
Other composites are used for NoclingTM mesh, rollers, jet nozzles, bushes and other fittings.
